Inanna’s Birds
oil, encaustic wax, beeswax, and collage on wood panel

I aim to create paintings that maintain a narrative of loss and seeking, naming and forgetting, and occurrence and disappearance. The pieces are composites of objects with spiritual significance to me, along with shapes and images that refer to the anatomy of the body. Through the layering of these images and created forms the viewer can navigate my personal attempts to discover and name my identity as a woman. Each piece contains elements one might attach to both hope and despair, emotions which are necessary to endure this kind of psychological searching.
