I Kill

Inherited and found garments, often bearing physical traces of the people who wore them, are powerful and fascinating. For me, they trigger memories or questions that can never quite be resolved. Photographing my own collection of vintage women’s undergarments and accouterments, I tried to present a similar mystery and used the unresolved memories as the basis for a “confessional” narrative that is etched onto glass. Combining the experience of the Roman Catholic Rite of Confession and the format of a Jewish confessional prayer, I created my own abbreviated list of “sins.” I hope to imply an ambiguity toward alluring sinfulness and shameful repentance.
