As a child, I grew up in an environment of political repression.  I lived in a small town in Czechoslovakia, a country where voicing a personal idea or communicating an opinion could determine a future exile.  The voice of my nation was muted; the sight of my country was blurred; the minds of many stayed closed.  The suppressed emotions and feelings were carved into faces and embedded into the harden skin.  Reluctantly, bodies and minds were enclosed into cages of submission, damaging the eyes, deforming the hearts.  The body became mutated.  Through my sculpture I expose the body for its strengths and its weaknesses, depicting who we are.  I want to communicate the energy of the abandoned and the discarded.
