I have been photographing at Warm Water Cove over the last few years. It is a park at the edge of San Francisco, tucked behind warehouses and power plants. Most people who live in San Francisco have never seen this place. At Warm Water Cove even the cops are lenient with laws that prevent homeless people from sleeping in their cars. Ashley and Tommy Silver lived here with their parents for over five years. These photographs are not meant to document this period in their lives but to inspire metaphors about the complications and contradictions that exist in life.
