ARTIST STATEMENT
My work challenges the traditional boundaries of fiber art by transforming punch needle embroidery into a medium for conceptual and material exploration. Focusing on landscapes, I use embroidery thread to create tactile scenes that evoke depth, movement, and emotional resonance. By blending physical materials with a conceptual approach, I aim to reimagine natural landscapes through the lens of fiber art. Each piece begins with intentional color selection, followed by hand-stretched linen on custom frames. Through layering and blending threads, I create gradients and textures that convey the majesty and serenity of landscapes. This process transforms thread from a conventional craft material into a medium that mimics the dimensionality of painting or sculpture, inviting viewers to see fiber art in a new way. My work explores the intersection of tradition and innovation, combining the tactile intimacy of handmade craftsmanship with the conceptual depth of fine art. By pushing the material and conceptual boundaries of fiber art, I aim to challenge perceptions of what landscapes—and the mediums used to depict them—can represent. Each piece invites the viewer to experience not only the beauty of the natural world but also the possibilities of reimagining art through unconventional methods.
