ARTIST STATEMENT
The idea of home as both a tangible place and an abstract concept is paramount in my practice. My interest in soft tactile materials seeks to recall the plushness of childhood. Recurring motifs such as stripes utilize repetition to access surreal and liminal spaces. The work I create exists in the realm of mental health in the 21st century; particularly the manifestation of the mind and body as something constantly at odds with itself. Furthermore, the culture of living in a city in and the different levels of being seen (from passive observation to voyeurism) surround my work.
