Description

ARTIST STATEMENT

Working with moving and still images, I explore subjective reality through the lenses of time and space. I construct dynamic mechanism by experimenting with duration, rhythm, and the choreography between camera and performers. Grounded in self-reflection and self-identification, my work translates psychological states into physical forms. Performers in my work often enact gestures such as breathing, falling, grasping, and walking. Each gesture corresponds to certain sounds or narrative elements. My goal is to craft a transcendental experience in every piece. I investigate the idea that reality is multi-layered, self-embodied, and even self-generated–consisting in all of the apparatus of representation.

“One, Two, One” reflects my fascination with observing time. I edit unrelated time durations together and allow two screens to engage in dialogue. Improvised sounds and melodies evoke emotions, transforming realistic images into a dreamlike experience.
