Woman Made Gallery’s Project Space is a curated platform dedicated to revealing the creative process behind a cohesive body of work by women and non-binary artists. This reimagined space—formerly the gift shop—offers visitors a rare behind-the-scenes experience, spotlighting not only completed works, but also the evolution of artistic ideas, materials, and methods.
Rooted in WMG’s mission to elevate underrepresented voices in the arts, the Project Space aims to:
-
Illuminate how artists develop a series of interrelated artworks, from concept to completion.
-
Highlight the personal mission, values, and thematic concerns driving each artist’s practice.
-
Showcase process documentation—video, photos, journals, sketches, materials, and studio ephemera—that offers insight into the artist’s world.
-
Engage viewers as curious observers of experimentation, decision-making, and the artistic journey.
This is a curated initiative and not currently open to public applications. Artists are selected by invitation to participate in short-term solo explorations that foreground transparency, learning, and reflection.
By demystifying artistic labor and offering a deeper look at the “why” and “how” behind the art, the Project Space fosters connection, understanding, and dialogue between artists and audience.
