As an artist, I endeavor to promote humanity and social justices through my work. An art historian by training, my expectation to myself as an artist is constantly shaped by my knowledge and experience as an art historian. Art historical training enabled me to adopt an analytical view to examine my work in terms of content, design and techniques. I strive to effectively utilize the latter two to enhance the content and meaning of my work. My experience as an immigrant, a Chinese American, a woman, a teacher, a curator, and an art historian has provided me invaluable resources to draw from. I am constantly examined how I can create meaningful work for our own history of art and how to speak of my experience as a citizen of the world.
