I believe painting functions as an intellectual exploration of the living world. Using a variety of painting materials and techniques I am able to illuminate several distinct perspectives of man’s interaction with nature and the environment, both positive and negative.

In my paintings, inspiration from old masters to modern masters helps me construct active compositions, drawing the viewer into complex depths. Significant relationships are created between the dynamic use of color, line, gesture and solid figurative forms and layers. Animals and organic forms from around the planet inspire these paintings. Color is very important to me. Color has an infinite number of meanings in nature.

In all species; insect, mammal, avian, reptile, amphibian, fish and more, color serves as warnings, camouflage, taunt, threat, flirt, lure or raw emotions of lust or fury. Color also means different things to different cultures around the world, from purity, fertility, allegiance, to social status or taboo.
