ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, my mission is to reflect the current social climate and confront the issues that define our turbulent times. Often painting women, immigrants, and marginalized communities while inviting viewers to reflect on injustice, resilience, and the possibility of change. My process begins with researching global events and protest movements, then translating these realities into figurative narratives accessible to diverse audiences. Working on large, often multi-panel canvases, I build layered compositions with bold color and, at times, mixed media—mirrors, textiles, or found objects—to heighten impact and implicate the viewer within the story. This Could Be You addresses mass incarceration in El Salvador, depicting prisoners and tattooed names of victims, with reflective cuffs that force viewers to confront complicity in systems of entrapment.
