Hix’s work lives in the present moment, where we move on intuition and feeling alone. They have found that working with raw wool in the process of wet-felting is something that has allowed them to slow and be in the now with the medium, allowing the wool to move at will as they use their hands and body to put it into place. The entire process from heart to physical matter is meditative, the materials do not allow for precision, only patience. Using secondhand raw wool and stray hair from family members, lots of beautiful energy has been folded into the work. Hix’s practice has allowed them to slow down and form somewhere to hold that healing space they think we all need, a space of understanding. This work has brought forth introspection and revelations in their own life and hopes sharing these intimacies with others builds a bridge with us and our consciousness.
