ARTIST STATEMENT
My artwork explores the emotional and elemental depths of landscape and a still life, through abstract and representational images in oil. Each canvas is a dialogue between motion and stillness – juxtaposing the harmonious, fluid atmosphere with the dynamic often unseen undercurrents and landscapes of the inner world.
Inspired by the interplay of air, earth, moisture, vegetation, clouds, I seek to evoke the tension and balance between life’s challenges and its moment of calm, through abstraction I reveal the essential nature within us all – mirrored in the boundless clarity of an open sky, a grounded tree, a container of flowers – my paintings become meditative spaces where viewers can breathe, pause, and reconnect with peace, stillness, and their own inner landscape.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
My mother, (a native Chicagoan), gifted me her oil paint box when she passed in 1993. I have been on a journey of artistic growth, exploration and leaning ever since. Recently my whole artistic world has expanded. The skies have parted, and I have found my heart. Since picking up my mother’s pallet knife, and going for it in earnest over the last 18 months, I have been juried into shows at the St. Louis Artist Guild and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. I sell my artwork online and in person through my own gallery. I have BA in Women’s Studies and MA in psychology. Always looking for the inner meaning of life and a creative life well lived.
