Artist Statement
I’m an artist from central Pennsylvania. I make work that explores queer community in its many despairs and ecstasies, solitudes, strangeness, and epic iterations.
About the Artist
Silky Shoemaker is a performer, visual artist, and community organizer based in Central PA/Oakland CA. Her work has been seen in such venues as ArtHouse Austin, the Warhol Museum(Pittsburgh), The Sculpture Center (Queens) and ArtYard (Frenchtown NJ). She is one third of the performance collective Shaboom! and also dances across the world with notorious post gender punk Christeene. Silky is the founder of GAYBIGAYGAY Music Fest, co-founder of Queerbomb Austin and once curated the world’s first Gay Wax Museum.
