ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings are abstract renderings that capture the sensations and excitement of being alive. They are meant to honor all things living, past, present, and future.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sheree Wood is a contemporary painter who imaginatively merges the abstract with moments of the representational. She sees her paintings as living animations that connect reality and an ever present acknowledgment of the hilarious.
Using lively color and sweeping calligraphic marks, her works radiate a delicious style all her own. Wood describes her art practice as “motivated by nature and energized by the thrill of discovery”.
Born in Ames, Iowa, Wood studied a the University of Wisconsin-Madison and in Madrid, Spain. In addition to art she specializes in Spanish language and literature.
Wood lives and maintains studios in Milwaukee, WI and Tucson, AZ.
