ARTIST STATEMENT
I have never wondered what I wanted to do in my life. Creating; whether in metal, glass, paint or print, has been my life. Watching art transcend barriers to language, culture, and intellect through teaching and advocacy has been an added fulfillment to my own artistic process.
Since June 24 this year my indignation has been brewing like a well fed Kombucha scoby over the lying justices sneaky Dobbs decision. My series of mosaics called “Vestibules” is an answer to Roe versus Wade being overturned.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sarah Ellen Smith, a working & teaching artist for over 45 years in ad agencies, commercial art, glass lampwork, jewelry, film developing at Sports Illustrated & 12 year collaborator at St Lawrence Pottery in Clayton NY. She now pursues mosaic art in her studio, teaches at the Thousand Islands Arts Center and blogs on her website.
