ARTIST STATEMENT

In the current divisive political and societal landscape, Sara focuses on creating artwork that highlights the humanity of people in order to generate compassion and kindness. She is inspired by the love she is surrounded by from her family, her partner, her friends, and nature. She believes it is important to make art that is colorful, fun, and positive even in difficult times as a reminder that through all the chaos, there is still joy and hope. Sara’s artwork celebrates love, childhood, and the playfulness of life.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sara is a Chicago-based mixed-media artist. She has a degree in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration, which has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of human anatomy, botany, zoology, and a highly technical skillset. In the past 3 years, has worked as a freelance art director and as an art director for a healthcare and pharmaceutical advertising agency. Sara is an active member of the Elmhurst artist guild and the Plein Air Painters of Chicago. She began exhibiting her art around the Chicagoland area in 2023, but has been making art for over 10 years.
