The inspiration for my small watercolors are the engravings and illuminations from medieval and Northern Renaissance times. Duerer’s engravings contain a whole world in a tiny format and I seek to capture my world in a similarly small format. The small scale allows my brush and pen to make bold marks relative to the size of the image, but the pictures never feel small to me.
