ARTIST STATEMENT
Creating art is one of the few activities (along with being in nature) that allows me to appreciate the present. I struggle with complex PTSD and other mental health conditions. A lot of my current work addresses self-compassion and I hope to continue the conversation surrounding the healing capabilities of art.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ruth Hong (she/her/hers) from Romeoville, Illinois by day is a project manager and by night considers herself sometimes a mixed media artist. She uses a variety of mediums on paper to depict personal experiences. Her work explores life’s themes including mental health, childhood, self-identity and culture.
