ARTIST STATEMENT
My submitted work reflects the topics of gender based oppression by pointing out how my life choices are deemed opposed to what is written in the Project 25 document. My poem describes the political conflicts happening in the world today, and my photograph was taken at a recent protest against the U.S. government and its current leaders. This photo shows resistance in action. All three entries are examples of how my artistry (writing and photography) are used in this time of unrest. I use my talents as a way to show dissent, how the world conflicts affect me as an individual, and how they are part of my personal activism.
