ARTIST STATEMENT
Ever since I started taking birth control, I grew a deep concern for the side effects and how they are affecting women’s bodies. I feel like this piece really encompasses all of the potential harm that is going into our bodies. The nudity in this piece, shows the vulnerability of our bodies that are in the hands of powerful men. These decisions, should never be made by men that have never met us.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hello, I am Rae, I am 16 years old and am local to the Saint Louis area. Art has always been a part of my life, though it has been just recently that I have started putting my own opinions and feelings into my artwork. It should be a way to present how we are feeling, without feeling as though our feelings are wrong. That’s what got me into art, expressing my feelings without feeling oppressed. I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I do creating it.
