ARTIST STATEMENT
While researching symbols I found asemic writing, a wordless, soundless, calligraphic visual representation form with no specific content. So intrigued by these notations my creative process sparked into a new direction. Words and how we use them, see them as marks on a surface emerged as important in my visual art and as well as my writing. The art work presented here for your consideration is from a series of pieces I produced and continue to produce, using acrylic paint, ink, gold or silver leaf, often cold wax and asemic writing. There is a moment for the audience when reading, watching a play, looking at art where these readers, listeners, viewers are able to take the leap that is being offered by the artist. The place where ‘connecting the dots…’ becomes the interaction of the participant with the art. My intention is to take the audience to this place and allow them their moment. My fascination with tones of nature, roots & branches of trees, as well as asemic writing has lead me to this moment of creative synergy.
