ARTIST STATEMENT
A sense of preexistence permeates my perception—a feeling that the materials and tools I employ have journeyed through countless hands, echoing through time. In my current work, this echoes physically through the reclamation of the discarded: the corrugated ridges of cardboard, the frayed edges of old canvas, and the ghost of a mark made years ago.
My practice is an invitation to witness the world through two distinct rhythms of the soul: reconstruction and abidance.
In the series Palimpsest of the Void, I explore the architecture of the interior repair. By dismantling my own creative history and reconfiguring it with the industrial grit of steel staples and the quietude of gesso, I honor the “second chance.” These works are not about erasure, but about the radical act of starting over while carrying the weight of what came before. They are the sutures of a life lived again and again.
I believe that the river of our existence dictates our expression simply by virtue of our presence within its flow. Whether I am mending a broken surface or layering a soft gradient of wax, I am seeking the authentic core. Each piece is a unique horizon—an invitation to awaken a sense of wonder in the ordinary and to reveal the extraordinary architecture of the interior self.
