Nation-wide protests against the killing of George Floyd at the hands of the police have led to a new awareness of not only police brutality but also the systemic racism embedded in our society. With the corona-virus epidemic, black people die at a rate twice that of other races. For too long, black people have been mourning their losses.
Watching an eight and one half minute tape of a police officer casually choking a young black man to death has finally become the last straw. A younger generation is standing up to police brutality and shining the light on the greater injustices of our society. We can only hope that this leads to meaningful change.
