ARTIST STATEMENT
I’m Fighting For… represents voices from different woman and non-gender conforming people, where they have completed the statement “I’m fighting for…”.
Each voice has been embroidered on to a label and stitched to an oven mitt/ boxing glove. The oven mitt, a symbol seen in advertisements in the 1950’s where women being shown in domesticated settings in the house, has been transformed to a boxing glove.
This installation is a protest to things going on in our society, in hopes to allow people to stand up, resist and fight back.
