ARTIST STATEMENT
I am primarily a printmaker and mixed media artist. My current work involves a process that integrates encaustic monotypes with mixed media.
I practice a form of asemic writing, which is a kind of invented calligraphy. My work features seeming-symbols that evoke real letters and real scientific equations. These seeming-symbols are gestural abstractions that invite the viewer to project a variety of meanings into the work

Michele Thrane is a printmaker, painter, and mixed media artist. She has participated in juried, curated, and invitational exhibits across the United States, and her artworks are in private collections.
