ARTIST STATEMENT
As a creative arts-based, perinatal mental health counselor and founding director of the LGBTQ Perinatal Wellness Center in Oakland, CA I am closely involved with people whose lives depend on safe, accessible, culturally competent reproductive healthcare. My mixed media abstract artwork is an interpretation of sociological snapshots of both injustice and perseverance.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Meghan Lewis MacLeod attended the University of Michigan School of Art (1993) and completed her doctorate at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology specializing in ecofeminist and creative arts-based, clinical counseling (2000). Her art studio in Berkeley, CA supports her daily mixed media and encaustic painting practice. Meghan is an intentional, queer solo parent who deeply adores gazing seaward, toward the great womb of the world.
