ARTIST STATEMENT
Marybeth Ward’s multidisciplinary practice spans video installations incorporating sculpture and sound, as well as painting, printmaking, and photography. Her work explores the intersection of women’s and environmental issues, delving into the history of ideas to create what she calls an archaeological landscape of the mind. Through mystical abstraction and material experimentation, Ward invites viewers to become active participants in discovery. Each piece bears a handmade quality or irregularity that adds depth, intrigue, and, at times, gentle humor.
