Relics and Reliquaries: Misty Night Backstage

“Think of the lone glove or car key found laying in the street, or used objects for sale at flea markets and resale stores, each item at one time had a life or history with someone. This series, ‘Relics and Reliquaries’, emerged after years of collecting and loving objects with unknown histories. I am now beginning to give these items an identity or frame of reference once lost to them.

‘Misty Night Backstage’ is the stage name of a performer whose image appears on a printing block (1940-50’s) used to print newspaper ads for the theater (burlesque). She is accompanied by a small sample jar of Sofskin creme from the same era.”
