ARTIST STATEMENT

Fusing traditional print media processes with new technologies, Marnie Blair examines the human body as seen through the lens of gender, medicine and science. Blair’s current work re-contextualizes early modern flap anatomy prints. Aborting the Toolpath Calculation is a cnc routered copperplate etching that incorporates the software’s termination of the matrix.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Marnie Blair is an artist from Northwestern Ontario, Canada. She received a BFA with distinction from Lakehead University and an MFA from the University of Calgary. She has studied at the Royal College of Art in London, UK, the Studio Art Centres International in Florence, Italy and has interned at Manhattan’s Lower East Side Print Shop. She has worked as the Print and Paper Facilitator at the Banff Centre and is currently an Instructor in the School of Arts & Culture at Red Deer Polytechnic, Alberta.
