ARTIST STATEMENT
Assembled objects related to boundaries, barriers, borders throughout a long life ignoring norms. I am using the numerical symbol ’10’ for a circle, a life cycle.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Loraine Anderson is a Colorado-based artist whose sculptural and drawing explores the interplay between structure, material presence, boundaries/borders and the poetics of life experience. Her work reflects a disciplined sensitivity to balance and spatial rhythm, engaging the viewer through subtle shifts in lifestyle tension, and architectural gesture.
A Colorado State University MFA graduate, Anderson has exhibited across the United States, with solo presentations at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, (Boulder CO) ARC Gallery in Chicago, University of Denver, Kilgore College and the Tucson Art Institute. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at regional and university museums including the Arvada Center (Denver), the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (Utah), CORE New Art Space Denver, Boettcher Concert Hall Denver and Florida State University’s University Gallery.
Her professional experience includes visiting artist appointments at Michigan State University, Colorado State University instruction, and installation assistant work with noted sculptor Kenneth Snelson. Anderson’s projects have been archived by Franklin Furnace published in CODEX, underscoring a career grounded in a sustained engagement with contemporary form.
