From time to time we find the need to ground ourselves again. For Jenschke this means going back to color and form to experience again the joy of making art that has exuberance, as well as the subtle pleasure of texture. 2021 has been a year of reconnecting with raw canvas and linen, and the makerly skills of stretching and sealing canvases, as well as experimenting with new methods of applying paint.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jenschke is a local artist, who grew up in Dallas, studied in Germany, got married in England, and left the Seattle rain to move to Chicago winters. Her multidisciplinary work is heavy on printmaking, but she also spends time in painting, ceramics, video, and installation. In her current work, Jenschke strives, sometimes playfully sometimes poignantly, to understand the changing political landscape and how to reclaim our position within it.
