ARTIST STATEMENT
I envision people gathering around my art, completely absorbed in the details, discovering something new every time. My medium of choice, Scratchbords® are non-toxic and archival. X- ACTO knife in hand, I etch into the top layer of ink as my art appears in the white clay. It takes a certain amount of artistic courage to jump into a piece without having any idea where it might lead, but that’s what makes it so much fun. I discovered Scratchbords® by Ampersand, while undergoing a cancer diagnosis. Immersing myself in natures delicate designs, and translating them into art, brought me peace; which is exactly what I hope the viewer feels.
Dividing my time between three sensibilities that often overlap, my goal is to create art so stunning that whoever stands before it feels the same sense of wonder and awe that I did making it.
