ARTIST STATEMENT
I’m an eco-feminist artist who believes that we must continue peacefully fighting for the environment and environmental justice; as well as human rights and dignity for all. Feminism can be a powerful tool to fight climate change, says the UN.
My artistic vision: A philogynistic world where females everywhere are valued, supported and safe, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+; with access to a clean environment. I wish that all may be blessed and uplifted by my artwork and vision.
My mission: To highlight the Triple Planetary Crisis (global warming, pollution, species loss.) To do this, I paint dynamic, abstract environmental images awashed with color utilizing my own unique brush-stroke and circular layering techniques.
My paintings are made to last. I use certified non-toxic acrylic paints that are high-quality, heavy-body and high-pigment loaded. I paint on durable acid-free, pure cotton duck canvas. All paintings are lightweight and ready to hang; most can be displayed four different ways.
Research indicates the high importance of blue/green spaces to health, mental well-being and longevity. We all need unpolluted spaces in nearby public parks and other nature areas, plus clean water, breathable air and food.
My series addressing this: “Green Space Healing Space,” and “Blue Space Healing Space.” I abstractly recreate the uplifting, restorative power of green/blue spaces. My paintings evoke leaves fluttering, branches swaying, sunlight flickering; and the swirling interconnection of ecological sustainability. The negative/white space represents that found in nature and in our own bodies when breathing more deeply, relaxing and decluttering the mind.
