I am an installation artist working in print, sculpture, new media, painting, and performance. The conceptual side of art is most exciting to me, specifically the potential for connection that transcends words. I make art to express, to heal, and to find community. My current work explores the intersectionality of feminism, collective healing, and celebration as resistance.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kelsey Bogdan is an interdisciplinary artist and educator practicing in Chicago, Illinois. Kelsey attended Harvard University for undergad, where she studied neuroscience, gender, and sexuality. Growing up in the Chicagoland area, Kelsey was recruited to play college basketball and played four years at Harvard under legendary coach Kathy Delaney-Smith. Kelsey now attends Columbia College Chicago and is in their second year of the Master of Fine Arts program. Bogdan considers her practice truly interdisciplinary, both in material and in concept. Her scientific background is informed by her passion for gender studies, which in turn informs her artistic practice. Interested in the body, mind, and healing Bogdan utilizes art to pose questions about human connection, empathy, and communication. Kelsey will be completing their MFA thesis this year, which focuses on queer femme liberation through the powers of joy and celebration.
