“‘Home’ for me, means the nexus of family, of comfort. It can also be transient, fraught with meaning and memories; something hoped-for, idealized, often or seldom achieved.

I was an only child. My son is an only child. This rocking chair is where I comforted and rocked my son for years while he was little, and where I have rocked my grandchildren and other littles who come by. It holds so many memories. It is also fragile, held together by wood glue and hope for the best.

Ambiguity is implied in the abandoned infant’s toys and the empty rocking chair and crib behind; the viewer is invited to add their own mood and perspective.”
