My body of work is composed using a variety of media, but the pieces are united in that they are all self-portraits and share the same theme of me trying to let go of my perfectionist tendencies and find myself while struggling with anxiety and depression. By showing these rawer depictions of myself, I am letting the audience into my anxious mind, letting them see the vulnerable part of me I have hid for so long.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in Mexico and migrated with my family to the United States as a toddler. In December 2020, I graduated from the University of North Texas and earned my BFA in Studio Art with a Concentration in Drawing and Painting. I am currently working on my MFA at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, which I plan to finish in 2024.
