ARTIST STATEMENT
My development as an artist has been animated by an impulse to explore different mediums, the study of cultures, interactions with nature, and being blessed with an active imagination. My work incorporates the love for texture, storytelling, and lots of different materials. It emerges from and exists in a domain of imaginative freedom that is deeply hospitable to diverse influences, concepts, and techniques. “To put it simply, I dwell in possibility.”
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Karen S. Musgrave is an interdisciplinary artist whose recent work explores loss, memory, and identity. She lives in Naperville, IL. Working across different mediums allows each idea to find the form it needs. She enjoy the freedom of experimenting with materials and techniques, letting the process shape the work as much as the original concept. At its heart, her work is about connection. She has received several best in show designations for her work about grief and family trauma. Her art is in collections in the U.S. and abroad.
