ARTIST STATEMENT

Kara Volle is a self-taught photographer and painter based in Chicago, originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She got her start at a young age experimenting with different mediums and fell in love with using paint and her camera. Some of her favorite subjects include animals, especially ones that are commonly overlooked, and nature. Although she has had no formal art education, she enjoys and embraces always learning and growing as an artist.

Being mindful of her environmental impact, Kara began experimenting with digital painting in 2024 as a way to conserve supplies and resources while exploring new subject matter and techniques. She is interested in the relationships between humans and other species, as well as our human impact on the planet. Kara strives to bring her audience in with playful colors and emotive subjects. She hopes that her work will bring a smile to your face and make you see things in a new way.
