ARTIST STATEMENT
Painting allows me the freedom to explore color, shape, light, and material. The main themes I like to explore are nostalgia, moments in time, lighting, and natural forms. Lately, I have been heavily aware of the passage of time and how fast and fleeting it is. Through my work, I am able to capture these moments from adolescence in a peaceful and magical way. Now, reaching adulthood and coming to terms with the fact that I have, in fact, “come of age”, I comfort myself with thinking about the future through my painterly, colorful lens. Using semi-realism while playing around with colors helps me to depict these moments in a favorable way. Hopefully, others make associations with their own memories and experiences through interacting with my work.
