ARTIST STATEMENT
My work challenges the lines we draw between self and other. Whenever a horizon marks a division, I disrupt it. The result is a series of richly layered, abstracted landscapes. Because I’m also a creative writer, asemic writing often appears in my visual work to represent the stories we tell — both true and false — about who we are and what we mean by “we.” The more we understand, the fewer walls we build.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jenn Hollmeyer grew up in North Carolina and now paints and writes in the Chicago area. She has exhibited and sold paintings in Illinois, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
