ARTIST STATEMENT
The courage to stand exhibits how 1 person having the courage to stand up causes other to the same. It starts with 1 person standing, then 2, then 4, then 8, then there is a enough for an entire woman’s march.
The panels are laid not just to mark different places in time, but also the distance between each panel to notice it will take longer for the 2nd person to stand than it will from 4 to 8. The last panel, a wood burning, reminds us in the protest posters to resist, and to not go back to that silent sitting person who is a ghost like.
