ARTIST STATEMENT
As women, we are taught to internalize the invective men hurl at us, to be ashamed that our bodies attracted such violent attention. I wanted to reframe the insulting language as originating outside the female body and where it belongs – on a literal pig. I wanted to depict an action generally considered a feminine chore (preparing food) as a form of conscious resistance. This is a literal dismantling of patriarchal language.
