ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice is rooted in my perpetual inspiration from the innate beauty of the environment– it explores a world that goes unnoticed, undervalued or taken for granted. I am captivated by the exploration of vivid colors and metaphysical representations of organic, biomorphic, and serpentine lines and shapes. Through my work, which manifests primarily as the integration of stitch work, bioarts, and plants, I strive to achieve a dynamic interplay of textures and blend the tactile with the conceptual. I aim to transport my audience to the expansive world of small-scale and microscopic beings.
As an intuitive artist, my creations emerge fluidly and are guided through imagination, trial and error. I am deeply inspired by the interconnectedness of organic forms, sustainable materials, and the human experience. My explorations mimic the ever shifting landscape of the natural world. Through fiber arts, collage, photography and illustration, I am able to incorporate various art forms and discover innovative techniques. Such as textile pieces made with the incorporation of images and drawings compiled in a collage like feeling to achieve a layered visual image. Such as found objects, textile scraps and thrifted fabrics, or working with sustainable materials such as bioplastics, natural dyes like S. Marcescens bacteria, and Chia seeds.
