ARTIST STATEMENT
This painting showcases the intense feeling of finding a new friend. For me, it is often had to express deep, honest trust in a friend. Recently, I have found trust in a close friend. My best friend wears gold jewelry and I wear silver, she is bold and adventurous and I am soft and calm. When we come together, we are able to bring a sense of childhood joy. I feel connected to my friend, despite having different personalities.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I’m a recent BFA graduate from Eastern Illinois University. Currently my medium is acrylic painting and ceramic sculpture. During the day, I work as a Gallery and Education Coordinator for the Decatur Area Arts Council. I’ve always been drawn to art as it is a wonderful and healthy form of therapy. Art is a way for me to express feelings that are often hard to explain. I express these thoughts, emotions and memories through colorful shapes and squiggles.
