ARTIST STATEMENT
The slide backwards for women in this culture, especially since the presidential election of 2016, has been shocking. As a member of the “free to be you and me” generation, this is not what our mothers worked so hard for. Our (American) culture has never been so transparently crass as it is today. This is definitely not what we want for OUR daughters. Art as protest has been an outlet for many of us and I am lucky enough to be in a community of makers and creators who will NOT be quiet.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in Tacoma, Washington and raised in central Illinois with 14 moves throughout the US since. Before my last last move, I owned a small business hosting art workshops and lessons and sat on the city arts commission for Kansas City suburb, Gladstone, Missouri. I have participated in juried shows, fairs, popups and been a member of several arts groups in the various places I have lived. I am currently living in Franklin Wisconsin, am a member of Wisconsin Visual Artists, Milwaukee Area Resource Network (MARN), am an affiliate of Material Studios + Gallery in Milwaukee, WI. and am the owner and curator of the TAG&TiniER miniature Art Gallery.
