ARTIST STATEMENT
This body of work is rooted in the joy of childhood memories.
My father knew how to have fun. In the wintertime, this meant going to skate or toboggan, and then playing gin rummy until bedtime. In the summer, this meant swimming with my dad, even though he couldn’t, and the hope and excitement of nurturing geranium and tomato plants. My father’s love of overwatering the fruit and flowers, and anyone in his path, was the seasonal humor.
Mine was a childhood of sprinkled-in laughter and wishful thinking for more of it. So, you could say, these works are fantastical in derivation, as well as in shape and color.
