Description

ARTIST STATEMENT

Monotype has opened up new and freeing ways of exploring liminal spaces, the “in-between,” in nature, where light, shadow, land, sky, and sea meet and interact, arousing the psyche, memory, and our senses. This is the space between what we understand as concrete, and what is outside of, or beyond the grasp of definition and linear time. The “in-between” is where shifts in form and rhythm change, and dance, opening our consciousness to a deeper connection with our world, and ourselves. I have been drawing into ink with varied tools, allowing evocative textures to emerge, sometimes hand-tinting the one of a kind prints with watercolor. What was a curious experiment has become a patient meditation.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Trainor has loved painting and drawing since she was a child. Because of this, while studying German Literature at University, her uncle suggested she also pursue fine art. She did, in the USA and abroad. While pursuing dance full time, she showed her work now and then, and is fortunate to have pieces in private collections here and abroad. She hopes to show her art regularly going forward.
