I use color, brush strokes, texture and collage to create an ambiguous spacial field that moves across rather than into the canvas. I use torn word fragments, symbols and even product bar codes as “stand-ins” for humans. My paintings reflect the ongoing struggle women face in a patriarchal society, including the need to create a time and place to just breathe.
