Spatial Perception #3
acrylic on masonite and foamcore
24 x 26 in.

Are you conscious of your consciousness? Are you aware of your surroundings and how they affect you? Do you stop to appreciate new occurrences, new sights, new sounds? An integral part of my daily routine is being conscious of my consciousness. What is consuming my thoughts? Am I taking time to appreciate the subtle nuances of life? This is a main source of inspiration for the art that I create. I never want to get to a place where I take for granted God’s creativity that is so visible everywhere we look. My art is a display of the elements of God’s creation that I’ve compiled into a new, hopefully stimulating, visual experience for my viewer. Ideally, I would like my viewer to be able to step up to my work, without intimidation, accepting it and appreciating it for what it is, simply a new visual experience.

In many of my pieces, I play with rhythm, geometry, and patterning, but especially depth. I enjoy exploring how the human eye interprets and reacts to imagery. The human body and its functions, abilities, and beauty will forever amaze me. We are incredible creatures that were beautifully and wonderfully made by the hand of God. New things are being created everyday, every hour, every moment in a physical sense as well as a spiritual sense. I urge you to celebrate creation and be mindful of the source.
